My Testimony

Last year, my elder sister was called and sent by God to go to 北非. I felt overjoyed for her and at the same time a bit lost because I did not see the clear guidance from the Lord for my own life. I decided to look for Brother Joseph Ting who works in OM. I asked him how I could be involved in short term missions. He arranged for short term mission trip to the Orang Asli settlement in Cameron Highlands in July. My purpose of joining this mission trip was to restore my first love and to get involved in sharing the good news of Jesus Christ. The trip which took 18 days was indeed a great journey of blessing to me. I have never thought that by digging rubbish holes, building toilets and staircases, plus other experiences can be considered as part of being involved in mission! It was marvelous!

It is not easy for people of different backgrounds and cultures to work and live together; adjustments are necessary. But though we might do things very differently and each have our own opinions, nevertheless the love of God bound us together in harmony. Praise God. Through the team work I have been motivated to lead a life of discipline. Now that I am back here in Kuala Lumpur, I learn to live my days with care, and not to waste my time unnecessarily.

Augustine once said,”If you never asked me what time is, I will think that I know what time is. But since you have asked me, I come to realize that actually I know nothing about time.”

If somebody asked me, “Mee King, do you know what is mission?” I would reply, ”Of course, I know.”. But when I thought further about it, the significance is far more than I can imagine. Though I am aware that missions is to fulfill the Great Commission that God has assigned to us, the scope of mission is much wider than I could think of. We have to experience it ourselves.

I thank God for enabling me to go for this short term mission trip. I was encouraged richly by the sharing and the great and wonderful testimonies of all the brothers and sisters. I thank God for using Pastor Brian to teach us the Word of God that has built up our faith, so that we were able to encourage one another during the last 18 days. May God use his life to be a blessing to many Orang Asli.

I am interested to continue to contribute to the mission work and learn to pray for the missionaries. Finally I want to encourage all of us to continue to grow in the Lord!

The theme of this mission trip was “Learn to fly”. May our life be like the gull, flying fearlessly in the midst of heavy rain and stormy sky. Just like how God wants us to put on our full armor. Regardless of circumstances that we might encounter in life and whatever decisions we might have to make, let’s follow His footsteps all the way. Let’s run this race of heaven together!
